Useful resources for deaf people with mental health needs

General information

Patient advice and liaison service (PALS)

As a service user, carer, or relative, you may not always know where to go for help or information. It can often be a worrying or confusing time, especially when you, or someone you know, is unwell. This is where the patient advice and liaison service (PALS) comes in.

How to access help in a crisis

The EmergencySMS (opens in new window) service and the Relay UK (opens in new window) service lets deaf, hard of hearing and speech impaired people in the UK send a text message to the UK 999 service where it will be passed to the police, ambulance, fire rescue, or coastguard.

Video call service to the emergency services, BSL999 can be accessed here (opens in new window).

An online British sign language interpreter through NHS111 services (opens in new window).
