The Specialist School Nursing team provides services to special schools, including:

How we can help
Offering advice, support, and appropriate treatment based on assessments.
Confidential guidance and support on:
- health needs assessment and planning
- promoting health and wellbeing
- health screenings for hearing, weight, and height
- health and development needs
- support with immunisations
- managing long-term conditions
- handling medications at school and home, including emergency medicine
- continence support, assessment, toilet training, and bedwetting assistance
- support and training for gastrostomy or naso-gastric feeding within school only
- home visits
- supporting emotional health issues and life changes
- referrals to other health professionals
- assisting with transitioning from health visitor, nursery, and mainstream schools
- attending open days and parents’ evenings
- health events open to schools upon request and arrangement

All children, young people, parents, and carers within special school provision can self-refer through their school.
