This policy is applicable to all trust staff. It is essential that all staff understand what action to take in the event of a hostage situation to protect the safety of their colleagues, patients, the general public and themselves.
Consideration should be given to hostage situations that may occur during home visits by community staff or where staff are working alone. Robust lone working procedures need to be in place so the guidance given in the lone working policy should be applied.
To access the policy, please visit hostage situation management policy (staff access only) (opens in new window) on the intranet.
