We are holding a harvest festival with a difference this year!
We are collecting long life food for the family hub and also changing lives who support people who are homeless in Doncaster.
George Carr from the homeless charity, changing lives told me about the great work that the charity does in Doncaster and explained about the needs of the people they support. He said “The biggest need is for items such as:
- tinned food
- tomatoes
- potatoes
- beans
- soups
- peas
- carrots
- fruits
- tea
- coffee
- sugar
- hot chocolate
- cordial salt
- pepper
- curry powder
- jars of curry sauces
- pasta sauces
- chilli sauces
If you are able to donate new socks and smaller sizes adult underwear, they are always appreciated.
We are also asking if anyone has any adult clothing that is clean and in good condition that they could donate, we can always make use of everything.
Tracey Fry from the Family Hub told me about the work they do with families in the Doncaster area, providing them with the ingredients to make a hot meal or breakfast. They also provide household cleaning products and toiletries. To continue supporting families in Doncaster, they need donations of cereals, pasta, pasta sauces, tinned vegetables, and rice (all non-perishable food, packets or tinned). Cleaning products, Hygiene products and toiletries are also gratefully received.
Our harvest festival will be held on Wednesday 16 October at 2pm, everyone is welcome to come along and meet people from the charities who will be able to tell you about the work they do. If you are unable to make the day, donations can be left in the chapel at Tickhill Road Hospital anytime.
