4 Other issues

4.1 Documents

There are several Word documents and some Excel documents on the website.

It is possible that these documents do not meet accessibility guidelines and may have the same issues flagged for PDFs.

4.2 Images

A number of images are poor resolution, which means they become pixilated when zoomed in to 400%.

Other images that contain information are difficult to read on mobile devices.

This effectively renders the images not fit for purpose as the graphical representation cannot be read in certain situations.

These issues relate to WCAG 2.1 AA 1.4.10 reflow.

Adopt an accessibility first approach to all content creation. This approach should include websites, social media, staff app, intranet, video, emails, documents and internal systems.

Adopt the NHS Digital content guide as the official trust style guide.

Ensure that all staff involved with creating and adding content are trained in how to meet WCAG requirements. This includes graphic design and print services.

Reduce the number of websites the trust operates as a matter of urgency to reduce the risk of breaching WCAG guidelines, and the resource required to maintain.
