Aftercare information for blood taking procedures (easy read)

Your doctor has asked for a blood test and some blood to be taken from you.
This is what will be used to take your blood.
We may have to hold you so you don’t move during the test.
We will put a pillow under your arm and we will put a strap around your arm. It will feel tight.
This is what your arm will look like.
We may wipe your arm with a wet pad.
We then put the needle in your arm you may feel this, but we will talk to you all the time.
We put a bottle on the needle to collect the blood.
We then undo the strap.
This is what it will look like.
We will put cotton wool on your arm and pull the needle out.
We will press on your arm.
We will put a plaster on your arm.
