Cardiac rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation is a service in Doncaster
Cardiac rehabilitation is a program designed for individuals post a cardiac event, surgery, or diagnosis. Our team’s goal is to assist you in returning to a fulfilling and active life while instilling confidence in managing your condition for the long term.
How we can help
Working closely with our specialist cardiac team, we provide comprehensive education, lifestyle guidance, counselling, and structured physical activity and exercise to aid in recovery and lower the risk of further cardiac events.
Upon referral, your nurse will discuss your diagnosis, medications, and lifestyle with you. Following this, your physiotherapist will offer more tailored advice on exercise and physical activity.
How to get help
Patients are referred following myocardial infarction (MI), elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), cardiac surgery including valve repairs or replacements and coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), or other cardiac event and surgery.
Patients are usually referred by the hospitals following acute admission, but may also be referred via their GP, cardiologist or patients may self-refer who have previously been under the service but have noticed a change in their physical presentation or symptoms. The service also accepts referral onto the physiotherapy pathway via the heart failure and arrhythmia service.
